The hot, dry Texas summer is just too much. We have been pumping water out of a well for the cows for a month or so.

As you can see in the picture, there isn't any grass left. Not even the dry, crunchy kind we had for a while.

The cracks in the ground are huge. We have to be careful to not twist an ankle while out in the pastures.

The light tan cow on the left is looking at Bruiser. I filled a bucket of water for him to drink from since he can't get in the water trough. He loves swimming in the tanks but they are all dried up now.

We have tanks that have never been dried up before in all of my dad's 71 years of life. I hate to think of all the fish that have also dried up in this heat. For awhile there were a lot of white cranes hanging out in the tanks when the water level was very low. Maybe they ate the fish so the fish didn't suffer much. What do you do with the worse of two evils!!

There is a chance of rain in the forecast for Sunday. We have fingers crossed for a lot of precipitation. At least the 100 degree temps are gone. The early mornings in the low 60s is refreshing.

With the first day of Autumn coming this month, I'm ready for the cooler weather and shorter days.

Mike reminds me that at the end of winter when spring peeks in, I am always ready for warmer weather and longer days.

I just love the change of seasons!!
